The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Anger Over Size Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Reaction

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Changes

Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
